Dabura is the Darugs peoples word for “paint” and in painting portraits of Aboriginal people in utopian (dreaming) rainforests and nature, Michael makes reference to the continuity of the Australian Indigenous people – the worlds oldest continuing culture.

“It is very exciting for me to showcase my work, especially being inspired by my fruitful contact over the last decade with Aboriginal students and colleagues…I thoroughly enjoyed drawing and painting my students as examples. My hope is that’s my paintings reflect the admiration I hold for Aboriginal culture ” – Mike Elliott
