This month we hear from Reeti Gupta, Business Manager from St Maur Estate Wines a boutique family owned winery in Sutton Forest.
Tell us a little bit about St Maur Wines?
St Maur is a boutique family owned winery producing small batch, handcrafted cool climate wines. Established in 1998, St Maur’s philosophy is making luxury wine in harmony with the environment with a 16-acre vineyard dedicated to producing Pinot Noir, Chardonnay, Cabernet Sauvignon and Merlot vines farmed in a sustainable program of natural cultivation that result in healthier vines. St Maur Wines is located in the heart of one of Australia’s newest cool climate appellations, the Southern Highlands and is part of the gentle revolution of the new generation winemakers.
What inspires you about your role at St Maur Wines?
My role at St Maur Wines is to manage the business operations of the winery. This includes managing the Cellar Door and regional wholesale business; maintaining and signing up new St Maur Wines Club members, marketing for the business as well as managing Sydney sales and sale representatives for the company. The true motivation for me is to be able to work with a well-established and highly knowledgeable team, their extensive past experience operating and running a small business helps me gain the skills required to successfully operate the business.
Additionally, this position has given me the opportunity to take my passion into a professional arena. To be personally involved in the business’ results, drives me to out-perform month-on-month. There is a level of personal satisfaction when you can see one’s efforts resulting in a great outcome. Furthermore, I do believe the product I am connected with is quality merchandise and I am proud to be associated with the brand.

What’s on the agenda for 2018?
Our agenda for 2018 is to expand our business horizons not only locally and within NSW but also to reach out to the Australian domestic market (inter-state). Our current target demographic ranges from 30 years to 65 years + wine lovers in Sydney, ACT and South Coast. We would like to optimise our current targets potential and increase the target for Australia-wide. As a part of the St Maur Brand, we do operate a Wine Club for which we host long lunch on a monthly basis. To increase our wine club awareness and offering to the club members
Tell us about the Milestones and Awards that your business has achieved.
St Maur Wines as a business does not participate in wine award shows as we believe wines are very individualistic and we let the product speak for itself to the customer. We do participate with restaurants where the sommeliers are happy to stock our wines and suggest them to the customer; based on their requirements.
We would say our biggest milestone is creating the best wine we can from each vintage. Our vintage is vineyard expressive and we work with what Mother Nature gives us. So far, all our wines have been drinking well & have been very much appreciated.
What do you value about being part of Moss Vale Chamber?
St Maur wine is a fairly new member of the Moss Vale Chambers team and we are yet to fully explore the benefits of the membership. We are delighted to be part of all communication with the Chamber office and the exposure given to the local region. We look forward to working together in the future.
