The Moss Vale Buskers Battle was recently held over the weekend of March 17 and 18. The event was put on by volunteers of the not for profit Moss Vale & Rural Chambers of Commerce (MVRCC). It was a free community event staged predominately at Leighton Gardens with the assistance of Wingecarribee Shire Council. The Council supplied MVRCC with staff liaison and advice and provided the amenities and park for community use.
The Buskers Battle, like other annual local events (Carols in the Park, GROW COOK EAT Festive, Moss Vale Show just to name a few), is a great community building event which draw many benefits to Moss Vale. These benefits include further exposure to Moss Vale’s business precinct and local producers as well as providing people with things to do together whilst offering an opportunity to meet and connect with others. The Buskers Battle, in particular, additionally benefits those musically inclined with the opportunity to promote their skills to a responsive audience with the chance of kick-starting a full-time music career.
The judges top prize of $3,000 went to Wolf Gordon. Ricky Prohm took out 2nd prize of $1,500. Our youngest entrant 12 year old Wilfrie Wilkins won 3rd prize, $500 worth of vouchers for Peppers Manor, Sutton Forest.
The Peoples Choice Award of $2,000 went to Grace Newton.
The MVRCC invites Moss Vale residents, business owners and visitors to share their feedback about their recent Buskers Battle experience.
